New Bereavement Leave Rights from April 2027

The Government has confirmed new statutory bereavement leave rights will come into force from April 2027. They give eligible employees a legal right to take up to two weeks unpaid leave following certain family bereavements. They also apply following pregnancy loss before 24 weeks. The new rights will be available from the first day of employment, giving employers time to review their bereavement policies and consider how they will support employees through difficult times.
